1969 Corvette Coupe
1969 Corvette Coupe - Vin# 194379S732629, Cortez Silver with Gunmetal Grey Interior (1 of 96 Gunmetal Grey Interior), Numbers matching 427 / 400 hp Tri Power, 4 Speed, Factory Air Conditioning, Power Steering, Power Brakes, and Power Windows. All original (including the tires) and unrestored car with 20,568 original miles. The car is in excellent preserved condition, and runs and drives great.
History:
This Cortez Silver, 427 cubic inch, 400 horsepower, air-conditioned T-top coupe was ordered on September 1, 1969 by Burt's Chevrolet in Englewood, Colorado. Six weeks later, on October 16, 1969, the car was built and two weeks after that, on October 31, 1969 the car was dealer prepped and delivered to it's first owner, Mr. Gene Blasingame, of Aurora, Colorado.
This Corvette was ordered with virtually every option available in 1969. The most unique and rare option on the car is the "Gunmetal" Grey Deluxe Leather Trim (RPO 417)(1 of 96 Corvettes built with Gunmetal interior. The only options not specified on the original order sheet were the engine block heater (RPO K05), and side-mount exhaust (RPO N14).
On July 25, 1981, Blasingame sold the car to Mr. Paul Ludwig of Broomfield, Colorado, who had been trying to persuade him to sell the car for quite some time. When he was finally able to make the purchase, it had only 12,857 original miles. Ludwig says that all he did to the car was to go completely through it and perform an extesive detailing of everything from top to bottom and from that time forward he maintained it in the same exhaustive manner. The car is still in pristine condition today due to the very tender, loving care it has had from all of the previous owners.
From Paul Ludwig the car went to Ray Norvel of Las Vegas (via. Corvette Mike of Orange, California). While Ray owned the car he took it to Bloomington Gold, where it earned a Survivor Award and the prestigious Bloomington Gold Certificate. It was also featured in the Bloomington Gold "Special Collection" in 1990. Ray finally gave in to constant pestering by the Tim Mckeon, and sold him the car. When Mckeon took delivery in early 1994 this rare Corvette had only 15,608 original miles.
The car has been campaigned in various NCRS activities, beginning with the Southern California Chapter Meet held at the Mondavi Center in Costa Mesa, California, where it received a Top Flight Award. In early 1997 it was driven to the Western Regional Meet in Laughlin, Nevada, where it passed the Founders Operations Test. Then during the summer 1997, it was driven to Springfield, Illinois where it earned a Gold Certificate at the annual Bloomington Gold gathering.
From there it was back on the road to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky and on to Cumberland, Maryland where it joined-up with the NCRS Road Tour to the National Meet in Lake Placid, New York. The car passed the Founders Operations Test on the first day of the National and was awarded the Founders Award at the general membership meeting that night. Later in the week it earned a Top Flight with a score of 97.8 (107.6 with the accumulated driving points) having driven a total distance of 3,716 miles to the meet. The car was also awarded the prestigious "Sam Folz Memorial Award" at the awards banquet for having driven the longest distance to the meet and earning a Top Flight Award. In the summer of 1998 it was taken to the NCRS Northwestern Regional Meet in Sun Valley, Idaho, where it passed the extremely rigorous Perfomance Verification challenge.
In 1999, in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of this Cortez Silver 1969 Corvette, it was taken to the NCRS National Convention in Sun Valley, Idaho, where it culminated the full sweep of NCRS Awards, Completing the Zora Arkus-Duntov Award of Excellence as well as earning a Four-Star Bowtie Award. It was not shown again until July of 2003 when it was part of the NCRS Special Display at the Corvette 50th Anniversary Celebration in Nashville, Tennessee. It was also shown at the NCRS National Meet in Hershey, Pennsylvania that same month.
On August 1, 2006 after 12 years of ownership Tim Mckeon sold the car to Marshall Geller of San Diego, California with 20,495 original miles.
On March 16, 2009 Dr. Mark Davis of Barboursville, West Virginia became the new owner with 20,502 original miles (via Corvette Mike)
On April 7, 2010 we became the seventh private owner of the car. This rare car currently has 20,568 original miles.
At 500 original miles the original tires where taken off and saved....at 20,500 miles the original tire where put back on. The car currently sits on it's original tires. It remains as one of the finest original examples of 1969 Big Block Corvette's available in the world.....
